2-factor authentication and single sign-on for 1CONNECT portal

Strengthen Data Privacy with New 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) / Single Sign-On (SSO)

Welcome to another 1VALET feature update. This week, we are introducing a set of improvements to staff account security. These consist of 2-factor authentication, and an ability to sign in with your organization’s Google or Microsoft account. We hope this update will help improve your 1CONNECT experience and fortify your data privacy.

2-Factor Authentification (2FA) / Single Sign-On (SSO)

To ensure that only authorized users retain access to the 1CONNECT Portal and 1CONNECT App, we’re rolling out 2-factor authentication (or “2FA”) for all staff user accounts.

This means that in addition to entering your username and password credentials, you will also need to provide a security code as a second layer of authentication to access our property management software. You can either receive the security code by email or through an authenticator app on your mobile device. You can choose from one of these options the next time you sign in.

In addition to 2FA, we are introducing Single Sign-On (SSO) as an alternative sign-in method. SSO will allow you to sign in with your company’s Google or Microsoft account. If your organization enables SSO, you will not need to set up 2-Factor Authentication via 1VALET, however, keep in mind that your Microsoft or Google account may require additional security steps.

The addition of 2FA and SSO helps strengthen data privacy for our users, while also providing them with a number of added benefits, including:

1. Enhanced Security: 2FA adds an extra layer of security by requiring users to provide two forms of identification before accessing an account. SSO reduces the number of passwords a user needs to remember, decreasing the likelihood of weak or reused passwords.

2. Improved User Experience: SSO allows users to access multiple applications with a single set of credentials, simplifying the login process and reducing the need for password resets. This improves the overall user experience.

3. Increased Productivity: With SSO, users can access multiple applications without having to log in to each one separately, saving time and increasing productivity.

4. Centralized Control: SSO allows administrators to centrally manage user access to multiple applications, making it easier to enforce security policies and monitor user activity.

5. Cost Savings: Implementing SSO can reduce the cost of managing user accounts and passwords, as it eliminates the need for users to remember multiple passwords and reduces the risk of password-related security incidents.

These additional security measures will help make the platform more secure, and ensure we are up-to-date with the latest compliance standards.
